We can offer holistic Menopause care for you

At YourGP we can offer all women a holistic discussion around the aspects of the menopause and perimenopause that are impacting on your personal wellbeing. Our enthusiastic GPs with a special interest in this area of medicine, Dr McDermott and Dr Loudon, will provide you with the care, understanding and support that you require during what can be a very challenging period of your life. Our initial assessment lasts up to 45 minutes, during this appointment we will explore the various ways that your menopause journey is affecting you. We can then work with you to formulate a tailor-made plan with the aim that your menopause experience will be a positive experience.

Dr Margo McDermott qualified as a GP in Edinburgh in 2001 and has over 20 years of experience in Menopause care. She is skilled in prescribing all HRT hormones that are recommended for prescription in the UK by The British Menopause Society. This includes experience in prescription of Testosterone therapy as an addition to Oestrogen and Progesterone prescribing. Margo is an active member of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. She is passionate about helping you to understand how your lifestyle can influence your wellbeing during this period in your life.

Dr Joanna Loudon has always been passionate about women’s health, and undertaking a job in gynaecology as a junior doctor helped to cement this interest. She enjoys the challenge that menopause care provides due to it being a constantly evolving area of medicine, and has undertaken both the Menopause Special Skills Course, and FourteenFish Confidence in Menopause Course to keep her knowledge up to date. She particularly enjoys working in partnership with women and providing patient-centred care to enable you to improve your long-term health and wellbeing.

If you would like to book an initial menopause consultation with either Dr McDermott or Dr Loudon, you can do so by emailing our team at reception@your.gp. Alternatively, you can discuss this over the phone on 0131 225 5656.

I had been at this practice since late 2018. The staff have been nothing but amazing! The care given here has to be the best care I’ve ever received at any practice. Very polite, greeted with a smile and always made sure you were comfortable.

The response times are extremely quick, always on that day or early next morning, pointing you into the right direction. Even if they were unable to assist, they would always make sure you knew where to go and what to do.

Your appointments are always accommodated to your needs, some imes I was unable to make my routine appointments in person so they would happily offer a Skype call which made things easier as I live a few hours away, but was always happy to make the trip when I could as it was always a pleasant experience.

I cannot thank this practice enough for the help that they gave me, I now feel confident and comfortable with myself and I would definitely recommend their services!
