Hepatitis B & C Test & Treatment
Hepatitis B and C are STIs that cause inflammation of the liver and can lead to significant liver damage.
Symptoms may include tiredness, aches, fever, nausea and vomiting, however in many cases there are no symptoms. If you feel you have been exposed to the virus or have taken part in any ‘high risk’ activities (such as unprotected sex or sharing needles) you should consider getting tested.
At YourGP we highly recommend gay men to have a course of Hep B vaccination.
A Hepatitis test at YourGP offers:
- Short-notice appointments
- Complete confidentiality and the ability to remain anonymous
- Fast turnaround of results
- Test carried out in an accredited laboratory
If you receive a positive result we are able to offer advice, support and any necessary treatment.
How It Works
When you arrive our practitioner will discuss your sexual history and take a blood sample.
- Where appropriate a follow up telephone consultation will be arranged to discuss a positive or result of concern
We ask patients to phone for their results between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. We can e-mail your results after talking with you.
There are drug treatments for Hepatitis B and C. If you are infected with Hepatitis B or C we would recommend you contact your NHS GP or local GUM clinic for on-going long-term care. If you would prefer to be treated privately, we can provide this.
£140 – £170 (Includes consultation fee, cost depends on the type of virus tested for)
Treatment/medication costs will be extra.
(When you book your appointment we ask for a £50 deposit to secure the appointment time. The £50 will be deducted from the cost of your consultation)
“To be able to attend a clinic where I am very obviously accepted by everyone there is a great start. To follow it with an hour with Dr Myskow listening, guiding and supporting me and my loved ones as I began to live my life for real as a Transman has made me feel less afraid or isolated”View more testimonials
