We’re here for your health during the Edinburgh Festival

      Posted on July 18th, 2024

It’s not every day you can enjoy world-class comedy, music, theatre and more right on your doorstep. Except of course if you’re in the Scottish capital during August when the Edinburgh Festival comes to town! From premiere performances to Fringe favourites – this year’s programme is jam-packed and there really is something for everyone. Whether you’re a local resident looking to make the most of the non-stop calendar of entertainment, you’re a performer hoping to make your mark on the stage, or you’re one of the three million visitors to the city, make sure you get the most out of the Edinburgh Festival this year by looking after your health.

      1. Sleep well

The entertainment in Edinburgh runs all day every day and continues well into the wee small hours, but that doesn’t mean you have to! The odd late night here and there won’t have a major impact on your health, but making it a consistent habit will. So whilst the Edinburgh Festival runs for 24 days and nights, make sure you factor in enough sleep throughout to give your mind and body the opportunity to rest and recharge.

      2. Eat well

Edinburgh is home to some of the finest restaurants in the country, and many of the street-food pop-ups are well worth a visit too. But make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need to keep you going throughout the festival by eating a balanced diet that includes plenty of fresh fruit and veg, and hydrate with at least 2 litres of water per day too.

      3. Listen to your body

The city may be playing host to some of the country’s funniest comedy shows, but when it comes to looking after yourself, your health is no joke! Don’t let a niggling health concern spoil your festival experience, instead listen to your body and if something doesn’t feel right, get it checked out right away. You know what they say, the show must go on, and by prioritising your health and wellbeing, it can.

The best place in Edinburgh for private GP services (I have tried several). Very professional practice management able to answer any queries in a very timely manner. The nurse, Lynn is very knowledgeable and caring, able to put not only me but also my three months old son at ease. I am very happy with the service I have received.
