Making a positive impact on people’s lives is something that has driven Dr Doogan since the very beginning of her career. Originally from Tayside, Dr Doogan studied the first half of her medical degree at the University of St Andrews, graduating with first class honours, before completing her clinical years at the University of Dundee. She subsequently remained in Tayside to undertake foundation training followed by extended GP training programme, gaining additional experience in hospital medicine including general medicine, geriatric medicine, stroke, and palliative care.

Working as a locum GP across a variety of practices, as well as longer-term posts in two very busy practices, provided Dr Doogan with valuable experience. It was during this time that Dr Doogan came to realise that the fast pace of NHS GP work means that it is, unfortunately, not always possible for doctors to dedicate as much time as they would like to each patient. She therefore has a natural affinity to the YourGP approach to patient care – she appreciates the benefits of the more relaxed environment where patients have greater accessibility to appointment times, and flexible appointment lengths to allow for more thorough assessments.

Today, Dr Doogan is a well-respected member of the YourGP team, helping patients with all manner of problems including women’s health, sexual health, and mental health issues. Dr Doogan also offers joint injections and minor surgery at the practice.

Thanks to her diligent manner and ambitious nature, Dr Doogan has pushed herself to reach her full potential, and her passion to create a positive and lasting effect on each patient’s well-being is just as strong today as it was at the outset of her career.
