YourGP patients help Edinburgh kids reach new heights
Over the years, the YourGP team has organised a variety of charity fundraising events. We’ve had team members shave their head to raise money for Movember, hosted a coffee morning and bake sale to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, and organised a raffle in aid of Held in Our Hearts during Baby Loss Awareness Week. This year, we decided to help a cause even closer to home, FetLor Youth Club, which supports young people right here in Edinburgh. FetLor Youth Club: Committed to helping young people flourish
FetLor Youth Club welcomes more than 300 children every week. Their mission is to provide a safe place where their skilled youth workers can take the time to build trust and support these young people, even in times of challenge, hardship and real need.
Everyone attending FetLor is offered a healthy, hot meal and the opportunity to have fun, develop new skills and enjoy new experiences. And it’s all provided completely free of charge.
How YourGP patients are helping to make a difference
This year, YourGP donated £1,000 to help fund climbing courses at FetLor Youth Club. This funding is already giving young people the opportunity to undertake activities that they would not normally get the opportunity to do.
And as Dr R. F. Adams, Chief Executive of FetLor Youth Club explains, “The climbing course which YourGP is helping to fund is not just about the activity but the opportunity to work as a group, make friendships and grow confidence in a group setting.”
