Why men’s aesthetic treatments are surging in popularity

Why men’s aesthetic treatments are surging in popularity

      Posted on February 11th, 2025

A recent survey by the British College of Aesthetic Medicine revealed a dramatic 70% increase in the number of men having aesthetic treatments since 2021. So what’s the reason for the rise? The aesthetic experts at YourGP offer their thoughts on the topic and discuss the treatments proving most popular at the Dundas Street practice.

      The Zoom boom

The popularity of aesthetic treatments amongst men has surged in recent years and one possible contributing factor is the so-called “Zoom boom” kickstarted during the pandemic. Being on video calls every day meant that many men literally came face-to-face with their ageing features and were spurred on to have their first aesthetic treatment as a result.

Another reason is the rise of social media and influencers promoting a particular kind of look – often enhanced by aesthetic treatments. Finally, an increase in people speaking openly about the aesthetic treatments they have had done, and a decrease in the judgement and stereotypes attached to men having treatments have also no doubt played a part.

      Our most popular treatments

Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers are two of the most popular aesthetic treatments we offer men here at YourGP, the most common reasons being:

      1. Creating a more “masculine’ jawline: Dermal filler is an effective way to create a wider, squarer and more defined jawline. It can also lessen jowls and give the face more balance and symmetry.
      2. Smoothing out fine lines: The nose to mouth lines, also known as the nasolabial folds, and the lines that run from the corners of the mouth down to the chin, known as the marionette lines, can be minimised with the strategic placement of dermal fillers. So too can crow’s feet and lines around the nose area.
      3. Treating the glabella lines, also known as the 11s: These creases often deepen with age and can make some men look permanently angry. By applying dermal filler to fill out the creases and anti-wrinkle injections to minimise movement in the area, the face can look instantly more relaxed.
      4. Replacing lost volume: As we age, our levels of collagen and elastin deplete, leading to a noticeable loss in volume in the cheek area. Using dermal fillers to plump put this area can add definition and help to create a more youthful appearance.

      Subtlety is key

The key to any successful aesthetic treatment is that the results should look natural. Most men say they don’t want to look too “done”. And that’s exactly what the aesthetic experts at YourGP can achieve. We have provided subtle “tweakments” to countless men – minimising signs of ageing and boosting their confidence.

      Discretion guaranteed

Despite the rise in popularity, there are of course many men who would prefer to be discreet about having any sort of aesthetic treatment. And that is why they choose YourGP. Our Dundas Street practice provides a whole range of services including GP services and health checks, so even if you’re spotted entering or leaving our practice, no one need ever know the true nature of your visit.

After being written off by chronic pain team and their physios, and losing faith in the physio discipline, I had no expectations from Peter. I am amazed at what he has done for me. Although I still have my pain I, at last, understand what’s happening, why and how to best manage it. Peter has given me the control back. I recommend Peter to anyone I meet who needs a good physio.
