The eyes have it! The best anti-ageing treatments

The eyes have it! The best anti-ageing treatments

      Posted on April 16th, 2025

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. They’re often also one of the first areas to succumb to signs of ageing. Crow’s feet and under-eye bags can create a tired appearance that no amount of sleep can rectify, and they’re some of the most common concerns amongst our aesthetic patients here at YourGP. But if you’re keen to try to turn back time, help is on hand. Read on to discover more about our safe and effective anti-ageing treatments.

      Common concerns

Everyone is different, and how your eye area ages can depend on a variety of factors, from genetics to lifestyle choices. However, the most common telltale signs of ageing include:

      • Lines under the eyes
      • Crow’s feet wrinkles at the sides
      • Glabella lines between the brows
      • Lowered brow
      • Hooded eyes
      • Puffy under-eye bags
      • Dark circles under the eyes
      • Dryer skin texture

What causes these signs of ageing?

As you age, your skin starts to lose collagen – the protein that forms the structural foundations of your skin. Elastin levels also deplete, which can lead to a sagging effect. Breakdown of fat and tissue leads to a loss of volume, and lines and wrinkles then start to form. This can be particularly noticeable around the eyes where the skin is thinner and more delicate.

What can be done to slow the signs of ageing?

There are various things you can put into practice today to help slow down these common signs of ageing. Here are our top 10 suggestions:

      1. Get a good night’s sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep every night.
      2. Stay hydrated: Drink 2l of water every day to keep the skin supple and hydrated.
      3. Nourish from within: Eat a balanced diet that includes a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables to ensure you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals you need.
      4. Limit or cut out alcohol: Alcohol can dehydrate the skin and cause inflammation, so cut down or cut it out to see a visible improvement in its condition.
      5. Quit smoking: Smoking can accelerate the skin ageing process and reduce blood flow, depriving the skin of oxygen and essential nutrients.
      6. Exercise regularly: Get active to get your blood pumping. It not only boosts circulation, it can also enhance collagen production and skin cell turnover.
      7. Manage stress: Stress hormones like cortisol can interfere with collagen production and can cause inflammation.
      8. Maintain a healthy weight: Fluctuating weight can lead to a loss of skin elasticity and the formation of wrinkles.
      9. Wear SPF every day: UV radiation from the sun can damage the DNA in your skin cells, leading to premature skin ageing and potentially skin cancer. So it’s important to wear sunscreen everyday, even on grey days.
      10. Follow a good skincare routine: Ensure you thoroughly cleanse your skin every morning and evening and follow with a quality moisturiser.

Need a little extra help to turn back time?

Here at YourGP, our medically-trained aesthetic experts have years of experience in helping patients reverse common signs of ageing. Because of our deep understanding of facial anatomy and the science of skin ageing, we are able to create natural looking results that subtly enhance without leaving you looking too “done”.

Two of our most popular anti-ageing treatments are dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections. Dermal fillers can be used to counteract volume loss, for example by targeting the tear trough area we can reduce the hollow under-eye look. They can also be used to smooth out wrinkles and reduce the appearance of under-eye bags.

Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing muscles around the eye area, therefore reducing wrinkling of the skin. These can be particularly effective in tackling crow’s feet and forehead lines.
