When it comes to healthy living, it’s fair to say students get a bad rap. A wild Fresher’s Week of drinking, late night partying, a diet of takeaways… However, despite the stereotypes, we at YourGP know there are a great many students that take their health seriously. Look at the recent news that Dundee’s Abertay University shut its Student Union bar, for example, because so many students were cutting out alcohol! So whether you’re a Fresher who’s new to the city and you’re looking for a GP you can rely on, or you need to see a doctor at short notice before you’ve had a chance to register anywhere, read on to find out how YourGP could help.
YourGP offers a wide range of GP and healthcare services. There’s no need to register, you can simply book an appointment at the walk-in clinic and our team of expert health professionals will give you all the time you need with relaxed, no-rush consultation and treatment sessions. Plus, we offer short-notice, same day appointments, with evening and weekend opening hours to suit students with busy timetables.
Students arriving at university for the first time are advised to ensure their vaccinations are all up to date. In particular, it’s essential to check you have received the Meningococcal ACWY immunisation to protect yourself against meningitis and septicaemia which can be life-threatening. Similarly, it is vital you have received two MMR immunisations to protect yourself from the highly infectious conditions, measles, mumps and rubella. Thankfully YourGP carries a full range of vaccines, ensuring you have a safe start to uni life.
From sexual health screening with a rapid turnaround of test results, to mental health support for those struggling with exam stress, YourGP provides the highest level of care – that’s what makes us one of Scotland’s leading private medical practices.
All my needs, including requests for appointments and treatment enquiries, were met with enthusiasm and sense of wanting to help. No question seemed inappropriate or trivial.
