Whilst it can be incredibly exciting to be spontaneous, pack a bag and jump on a plane to some exotic far-off place, the reality is that some trips take a little more forward-planning. That’s because some destinations require proof of vaccination, such as an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), in order for you to enter or leave. Thankfully, YourGP’s Travel Clinic provides all the necessary advice, travel vaccinations and medication you need to ensure you have a safe and memorable trip.

    Get organised

Long before you start packing your suitcase, it’s important that you book a consultation at the YourGP’s Travel Clinic. Ideally, this should be at least 8 weeks before you’re due to travel because some vaccinations need to be given well in advance to allow your body to develop immunity, and some require a number of doses spread over the course of several weeks or months.

What makes YourGP’s Travel Clinic different?

As with every appointment at YourGP, we listen carefully so we can provide fully assess your needs and provide the appropriate care. During your appointment at the Travel Clinic, we will:

    • Ask you to complete a short travel questionnaire
    • Discuss your travel plans with you
    • Advise you on the latest vaccination guidance, in place to protect you against a number of infections
    • Talk through the latest travel safety advice for your destination

YourGP’s Travel Clinic makes it easier than ever

We understand that planning an overseas trip can be stressful – there is often so much to research, plan and organise. That’s why we are committed to making the medical preparations as straightforward as possible for you.

    • We offer short notice, often same day appointments
    • We offer a reminder service for booster vaccinations
    • We can inform your regular GP of any vaccinations given by us at your request
    • Unlike many other surgeries, YourGP carries a full range of vaccines such as yellow fever, typhoid, polio, cholera and hepatitis A. On the occasion that we don’t stock a particular travel vaccination, we can place a next day order with our pharmacy.

YourGP – A registered yellow fever vaccination centre

If travelling to an area where yellow fever is found, such as parts of sub-Saharan Africa, South America, Central America and Trinidad in the Caribbean, it is essential that you receive a yellow fever vaccination from a registered vaccination centre before embarking on your trip. You should be vaccinated at least 10 days before you travel to allow enough time for the vaccine to work, and you must bring the accompanying certificate with you on your travels.

Just a massive thank you for being so willing to help us out. I was kept up to date in all email communication between the two clinics which I found very reassuring. I honestly can not emphasize enough how grateful we both are that the clinic was able to help us out with the Zita West fertility tests. We really did not know what we were going to do after the mix up with the blood collection dates due to the 4th of July in America and really thought we would have to give up on these tests so it means a massive amount to us that we have been able to proceed with them because of your willingness to help us out. Thank you again.
