Fresh faced secrets: Dermal fillers at YourGP

    Posted on July 17th, 2021

So many of us share the same concerns about sagging skin and multiplying wrinkles. But understandably, many are reluctant to go under the knife. Thankfully, there is an alternative solution which involves less drastic measures yet promises noticeably youthful results – dermal fillers at YourGP. Here, our cosmetics experts answer some of the most common questions to help you decide if it is the right anti-ageing treatment for you.

Why does skin sag as we age?
During the ageing process, our skin loses fat, collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid – all of which are needed to create volume in the face. Couple this with the effects of gravity, which pulls the skin down, facial skin can start to sag and form lines, wrinkles, and folds.

What are the most common areas you treat with dermal fillers?
The key problem areas we treat most often are the nose to mouth groves, frown furrows, fine lines around the mouth, lips, acne pits, sunken cheeks, and sagging jowls.

What are dermal fillers made of?
Dermal fillers consist of a natural, biodegradable gel that is injected using a very fine needle. It works within the layers of your skin to replace lost volume and effectively plump up the skin.

    Does it hurt?
Our dermal fillers contain a numbing agent called lidocaine for your comfort.

Who carries out the treatment at YourGP?
All our cosmetic treatments are carried out by highly trained medical professionals, each of whom is strictly regulated by the General Medical Council, so you can be confident of a safe experience. You can find out more about the YourGP cosmetics team here.

How long does it take to have the treatment done?
The treatment itself takes an average of 30 minutes. However, prior to the treatment every patient receives a complimentary consultation with the doctor to ensure dermal fillers are appropriate for the individual. Here, you will be given ample to time to ask any questions.

How soon will I see the results?
Dermal fillers work instantly to fill out lines and wrinkles so you’ll notice an immediate difference after your treatment.

How long do the effects last?
The effects usually last for up to 9 months, some even last for over a year.

    Are there any side effects?
Side effects are rare but you may see some redness and swelling at the treated area. Some mild bruising may also develop and can last for a few days.

I went in for an allergy shot and was thoroughly pleased with the practice from start to finish. They informed me with the all the necessary details and potential side effects (which thankfully I didn’t have). The level of professionalism is felt from the time you enter all the way through the end of your appointment! Thank you! See you next year!
