At YourGP we understand the frustration and worry of long waiting times for appointments which is why we pride ourselves in offering a short notice, 7-day week flexible service, working around your needs.
Recently we have seen a notable increase in the number of media articles about the operating hours of the NHS and length of waiting times across the UK.
At the beginning of July the Herald reported that official NHS figures show the majority of Scotland’s health boards have failed to meet the national target for urgent cancer treatment, amongst others.
Since the Government set the targets in 2012 NHS Information Services Division (ISD) reported between January and March of this year that 91.5% of patients started treatment within 62 days of their urgent referral to investigate suspicion of cancer, in comparison to 94.6% October to December 2013.
Dr Brian Keighley, chairman of the British Medical Association (BMA) Scotland, said at the Annual Representatives Meeting there has been “continuing crisis management of the longest car crash in my memory” over the past five years instead of ministers implementing long-term solutions.
Scotland’s most senior GP went on to say “cracks” are emerging in everything from the provision of hospital food to cancer waiting times, he mocked the Scottish Government new promise of a truly seven-day NHS when all that is funded currently is “an inadequate five-day service”.
At YourGP we understand many of our patients lead busy lives, therefore we want to make it as convenient as possible by providing long opening hours including Saturdays and Sundays – a genuine seven-day week service – which we feel essential to providing high quality care.
As a walk-in clinic offering short notice, usually within 24 hours, and same day appointments we also offer the choice of 15 minute and half an hour appointments. Longer appointments are available if required.
For anyone in Edinburgh unable to attend the clinic we can visit you whether at home or staying in a hotel or bed and breakfast.
With highly experienced GPs and referrals to private consultants you can be confident of the highest level of care with the quickest available appointments and fastest possible turn-around of results and reports.

I was in significant amount of pain and was seen very quickly by Dr McFarlane. He was able to immediately identify the problem. He carried out the minor surgery immediately, with great skill. I would not hesitate in recommending him as an excellent GP.
