“Be the change you want to see in the world” – words of wisdom from Gandhi which resonated with Dr Phimister, who set out on his medical career with an admirable ambition to help people.
Dr Phimister completed his medical training in Aberdeen more than two decades ago and has since developed a keen interest in chronic pain, chronic diseases, and lifestyle medicine.
For Dr Phimister, the most rewarding part of his job as a GP is helping patients to understand why symptoms and chronic diseases occur, empowering them to take the next step towards regaining their health.
The job is not without its challenges, of course – one of the biggest and most common difficulties he has faced throughout his career as a GP is the time limitation on appointments. All this has changed, however, since he joined the YourGP team. Thanks to our extended appointments, Dr Phimister’s patients can take their time to talk through any medical concerns within a relaxed, unrushed environment.
As a result, patients are able to build a stronger relationship with Dr Phimister, who they trust and turn to because of his empathetic manner and his knowledgeable and pragmatic approach.
During his spare time, Dr Phimister loves nothing more than enjoying some quality family time, non-fictional reading, writing, and of course practising a healthy lifestyle!
