Since qualifying as a GP in 2001, no two days have ever been the same for Dr McDermott. A career in General Practice comes with challenges, but for Dr McDermott it is a hugely rewarding vocation – not least because it grants her the opportunity to provide continuity of care. Watching babies become adults who go on to have babies of their own is a real privilege.
Dr McDermott is particularly interested in lifestyle medicine and is passionate about encouraging patients to actively improve certain lifestyle factors as a means of treatment for their health
conditions. She also greatly enjoys women’s health work, especially effectively managing the challenges of the menopause. In addition, Dr McDermott has a keen interest in dermatology and has helped countless people gain confidence by treating their skin conditions.
When asked what she thinks sets YourGP apart from other practices, Dr McDermott believes that giving patients the option to book a same-day appointment and choose the duration of their
appointment can make all the difference to their healthcare journey.
A committed and dependable member of the YourGP team, Dr McDermott can be found keeping active, enjoying the outdoors, cooking, eating and socialising in her well-deserved time off.
