Caring for those who have no one else to help them was a hugely motivating factor for Dr Loudon as she first embarked on her medical career. She studied Natural Sciences at Durham University, then went to medical school in Edinburgh, qualifying in 2015. As a junior doctor, she worked in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, paediatrics, and obstetrics and gynaecology departments. This wide scope of experience has equipped her well for work in general practice. She now enjoys the variety of working at YourGP, as well as other practices in Edinburgh and working in out of hours GP.
The breadth of knowledge that a GP requires could pose a challenge for some, but Dr Loudon takes great pleasure in the fact that this role gives her the opportunity to gain new knowledge every day. She has an interest in women’s health, in particular menopause care which is a constantly evolving area of medicine, and she continues to undertake courses to keep up to date with the latest guidelines. Dr Loudon also enjoys treating children as they always brighten up her day!
During her career so far, Dr Loudon has proven herself to be a compassionate, reliable and committed medical professional. She finds her role at YourGP hugely rewarding as the extended appointment times give patients the opportunity to speak in depth about their health concerns and work in collaboration with her to find a management plan that they feel comfortable with. Dr
Loudon understands the importance of listening to patients and ensuring that they feel like they have been truly heard.
When not at work, Dr Loudon is kept busy by her two young children. She enjoys running, swimming and skiing, and feels most relaxed when she is reading a good book.Back to all staff
All my needs, including requests for appointments and treatment enquiries, were met with enthusiasm and sense of wanting to help. No question seemed inappropriate or trivial.
