GP
Dr Katie Cathrow is a caring and highly experienced GP.
Originally having studied psychology at Newcastle University, she switched to medicine and graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 2004. She then spent a further six months focusing on obstetrics and gynaecology which is now one of her specialist areas.
Having successfully completed a diploma in child health, Katie adds more expertise to the very demanding area of children’s healthcare.
Katie has trained with the family planning service in the Borders and Sandyford Clinic, in Glasgow, gaining her DFSRH (Diplomate Assessment of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare). This includes contraceptive coil and implant fitting and removal which she now also offers at YourGP.
As well as her DFSRH, Katie has a wide range of other qualifications, including a diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a diploma in geriatric medicine from the Royal College of Physicians in London.
However, due to Katie’s keenness to learn new skills and increasing her patient care ability, she is currently adding to her qualifications by studying a masters degree in Practical Dermatology with Cardiff University.
In addition to her passion for working as GP, in Edinburgh and the Borders, Katie loves nothing more than family time or a good gym class with some chill time at Yoga.
If you’re keen to make an appointment with Dr Katie Cathrow, please be aware she is only available at the clinic one Saturday a month, so advance booking is required.
Back to all staffAfter being written off by chronic pain team and their physios, and losing faith in the physio discipline, I had no expectations from Peter. I am amazed at what he has done for me. Although I still have my pain I, at last, understand what’s happening, why and how to best manage it. Peter has given me the control back. I recommend Peter to anyone I meet who needs a good physio.
