Dr Katie Cathrow is a caring and highly experienced GP.

Having gained a degree in Psychology at Newcastle University, she changed career path and went on to study medicine at Edinburgh University, graduating in 2004. She then spent several years working in hospital posts before moving out into the community to complete GP Registrar training.

Having successfully completed diplomas in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Dermatology, and Geriatric Medicine, Katie adds more expertise to these very demanding clinical areas. She enjoys a holistic approach to medicine and has most recently completed her training with the British Medical Acupuncture Society, gaining the Certificate in Medical Acupuncture.

Katie has trained with the family planning service in the Borders and Sandyford Clinic, in Glasgow, gaining her DFSRH (Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare). This includes contraceptive coil and implant fitting and removal which she also offers at YourGP.

Katie has also gone on to gain an MSc in Dermatology at Cardiff University and counts skin and skin health as one of her areas of special interest. She offers aesthetic treatments at YourGP and is always happy to discuss any concerns you may have, utilising her solution-focused approach to achieve your aesthetic goals.

In addition to her passion for working as a GP, Katie loves time away with the family, walks along the coast and time out with a good book.

If you’re keen to make an appointment with Dr Katie Cathrow, please be aware she is in clinic every other Thursday and Saturday, so advance booking is often required.
