At your service – seven days a week

    Posted on July 2nd, 2015

There may be doubts over whether GPs will be able to deliver government plans for a seven-day health service, but at YourGP in Edinburgh, there’s no such concern.

The government’s plans have been in the news again recently, after the health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, pledged to recruit an extra 10,000 doctors and nurses in return for a seven-day service.

Hunt said he wanted to create flexibility for working patients and allow vulnerable people to have longer appointments – two things we are fully committed to providing at YourGP.

Longer opening times – and longer appointments

Many surgeries in Scotland and across the UK are only open from 8.30am to 6pm on weekdays, forcing patients to take time off work to see a doctor. And although some workplaces allow time off work to deal with an emergency, we know it can be difficult to arrange time off work for GP appointments.

That’s why at YourGP, we offer longer opening hours, seven days a week – meaning working patients don’t need to worry about rearranging their busy schedule or taking time off work.

Not only that, we offer longer consultation times of 15 minutes, 30 minutes and one hour, meaning we always have plenty of time to help resolve your worries, concerns and illnesses.

    Flexible, short-notice appointments

One of the reasons the government wants to deliver a seven-day GP service is because according to official figures, millions of patients across the UK have to wait a week or more for a doctor’s appointment.

Last year, it was revealed that a quarter of patients in Scotland face waits of more than a week to see a GP – despite a Scottish Government vow to get everyone seen in 72 hours.

But unlike other health practices, we are part of the Sameday Doctor™ network, so we offer short notice appointments same day or within 24 hours – ensuring you’ll be seen quickly and with minimum fuss.

Just a massive thank you for being so willing to help us out. I was kept up to date in all email communication between the two clinics which I found very reassuring. I honestly can not emphasize enough how grateful we both are that the clinic was able to help us out with the Zita West fertility tests. We really did not know what we were going to do after the mix up with the blood collection dates due to the 4th of July in America and really thought we would have to give up on these tests so it means a massive amount to us that we have been able to proceed with them because of your willingness to help us out. Thank you again.
