The relationship between a doctor and a patient is a vital one. A doctor that is able to build a true rapport with their patient is better able to educate and empower them to gain a greater understanding of their health, and will likely find it easier to get to the root of any medical problem. Building strong doctor-patient relationships has been at the centre of Dr. Harwell’s career, right from the start. Her love of science led her to study Physiology at the University of St. Andrews, however she came to realise she was more interested in helping people on the frontline than in a laboratory. She therefore embarked upon a second degree, MBChB Medicine, at the University of Glasgow, before heading to London for foundation training and returning to Scotland to complete her GP training in Edinburgh.

Now a resident GP at YourGP, Dr. Harwell loves nothing more than helping patients and building day-to-day interactions into long-term connections with people. Friendly, efficient, and driven – Dr. Harwell is committed to providing solutions to medical issues, whilst never losing focus on the human individual at the heart of every appointment. Outside the practice, Dr. Harwell continues her caring role – raising a toddler and exploring the great outdoors, come rain or shine, with her family.
